This will probably be a fairly short article because honestly there aren't a tremendous amount of appliances that would be specific to the Log Cabin Style Home.
Interestingly, we have seen just about all of the standard colors of appliances used in Log Cabin Style Homes. Frankly, each one looks good in its own way.
Log Cabin Style Color Choices
In today's market we seem to have a somewhat limited range of colors that you can actually get appliances in.
However we will talk about a few of the higher end options that are available out there for a slightly different look than the norm if you are willing to spend the money.
The most commonly available colors on the market today seem to be White, Black and Stainless Steel. While each of these seems to work quite well in its own setting and decor scheme, there are a couple of other less common choices that you see every so often. One of those is a Metallic Gray that is supposed to have the appearance of Stainless Steel but be less expensive and the other is a Dark Red or Maroon that is actually quite attractive.
Here's how we would classify these different colors to give you a flavor for how you might make your decision.
White - Traditional, Matches the old timey feel of a Log Cabin Style Home
Stainless Steel and Metallic Gray - Kind of a newer rendition of the old school galvanized metal look, though much cleaner, an excellent cabin color
Black and Dark Red - Kind of an edgy, new age take on some old traditional colors. Continue the theme throughout the rest of your kitchen decor.
More Bang For Your Buck!
While the colors just discussed are your most common, "over the counter" type of choices, you can go for an even more aggressive approach to looking 'Woodsy" if you want to up the ante a bit.
The first approach is to find some of the higher end refrigerators, dishwashers and trash compactors that have the ability to have their face panels replaced with a wood panel to match or contrast with your cabinetry. Your cabinet shop can easily build you the panels to fit the appliances. If you combine this with a drop-in cook top and a built in oven, you eliminate most of the normally exposed metal surfaces in a conventional kitchen.
Approach number two, there are still companies that manufacture modern versions of antique appliances. We have seen these in several less common colors and they definitely make a very unique Log Cabin Style statement in your kitchen!
Approach number three, we have actually had people pay us to have their standard appliances repainted with a high quality automotive paint into a color that really matched their decorating ideas. The color choices are literally infinite. Most any autobody repair shop should be able to handle this if they will. Just expect it to not be cheap.
Actually there is an approach number four too. Hunt down some antique appliances and have them refurbished and maybe even updated to be more efficient. Now you would really have something with a truly old fashioned Log Cabin Style feel.
Within and Without
Within these fairly narrow parameters of color, you do have an almost unlimited number of variation in the style and types of options available on the individual appliances.
Outside of those few color options, if you are willing to spend a lot more money, you can look into the commercial market or even search out some totally custom made one-offs.
Or maybe you could get really rustic and go find a reproduction of the old wood burning cookstoves that you see in museums. While you're there you just might want to hunt up a good old fashioned Ice Box to keep your beverages chilled too!
